Toyota Statement on Canadian Parliamentary Hearings
February 26, 2010 – Toyota Canada Inc would welcome the opportunity to address the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities when it is reconstituted. As part of our continued efforts to communicate openly and broadly with all stakeholders – customers, Transport Canada and media - appearing before the committee is a natural next step in Toyota’s candid outreach regarding our recalls. Toyota Canada was anticipating requesting a hearing when parliament resumed and committees had been struck. Today’s request from Jeff Watson, MP for Essex eliminates that need. Toyota looks forward to the opportunity to participate in the formal hearings to ensure issues are on the record for all Canadians to understand. -30-
