Toyota Canada resumes sales and vehicle deliveries today
TORONTO, Ontario - February 5, 2010 - Toyota Canada today announced that it has resumed deliveries of the eight Toyota models identified in the January 21 recall notice. Also, as of today, Toyota will begin notifying owners of vehicles identified in the January 21 recall related to the accelerator pedal in those vehicles and requesting that they contact their local Toyota dealer to schedule an appointment to have the necessary repair performed on their vehicle. A1: In certain 2010 model year Prius vehicles, a small number of customers have reported experiencing an inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of the brakes on rough or slick road surfaces when the anti-lock brake system (ABS) is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction. Q2: What is the cause of the condition? A2: This condition is as a result of braking system switching between regenerative and hydraulic braking. The system, in normal operation, engages and disengages rapidly (many times per second) as the control system senses and reacts to tire slippage.
