TOYOTA CANADA REACHES 84% COMPLETION RATE FOR STICKING PEDAL RECALL REMEDY
83% of ABS software updates completed on 2010 Prius and Lexus HS 250h vehicles TORONTO, ON – May 6, 2010 – Toyota Canada Inc. today provided an update on the significant progress that has been made to remedy Lexus and Toyota vehicles affected by the sticking pedal and ABS software update recalls. Remedies have been performed on more than 230,000 Canadian vehicles included in the following recalls: 225,924 remedies to address the potential for sticking accelerator pedals of the 268,908 vehicles affected by the recall 4,633 software updates to the anti-lock brake systems (ABS) in certain 2010 Prius and Lexus HS 250h models of the 5,610 vehicles affected by the recall We are pleased with the progress to date, however we are striving to have all vehicles remedied as quickly as possible. We urge owners of any affected vehicle that has not yet been remedied to contact their local Toyota or Lexus dealer as soon as possible to have the remedy performed. TOYOTA CANADA ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY RECALL ON CERTAIN 1998-2010 MODEL YEAR SIENNA VEHICLES TO ADDRESS POTENTIAL CORROSION ON SPARE TIRE CARRIER ASSEMBLY
TORONTO, ON – April 16, 2010 – Toyota Canada has announced a voluntary recall campaign affecting approximately 270,000 first and second generation 2WD Toyota Sienna vehicles where the frequent use of road salts may result in excessive corrosion of the spare tire carrier assembly. With continued and prolonged exposure, there is the potential for the carrier cable to fail and the spare tire could become separated from the vehicle causing a crash or become a hazard for following vehicles.
