Toyota Canada Inc. reports August sales

TORONTO, ON – September 1, 2010 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today reported August sales of 12,862 Toyota and Lexus cars, trucks and SUVs, down 29.5% from August 2009. This included 11,609 Toyota models (down 30.5%) and 1,253 Lexus luxury vehicles (down 18.2%). The Canadian market trend in favour of trucks, SUVs and crossover vehicles over the past few months is reflected in Toyota Canada’s sales.

Toyota ‘plugs-in’ to a new sustainable mobility evolution; delivers Prius Plug-In Hybrid to Ontario test partners (Toronto, ON) - August 24, 2010 - A new era in sustainable mobility begins in Ontario, as Toyota Canada delivered a Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid (Prius PHV) to its provincial testing partners at a ceremony today. Toyota Canada and provincial partners the Province of Ontario (Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transportation), Ontario Power Generation, the City of Toronto and the AUTO21 Network of Centres of Excellence were all on hand to officially ‘plug-in’ to the future. To mark the occasion, Rick Jennings, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Supply, Transmission and Distribution Policy, Cara Clairman, Vice President of Sustainable Development, Ontario Power Generation, Joe Pantalone, Deputy Mayor, City of Toronto, Dr. Peter Frise, Scientific Director and CEO, AUTO21 Network of Centres of Excellence and Toyota Canada’s President Yoichi Tomihara were on hand for the delivery at Toyota Canada’s head office in Scarborough today.

Howard Park Public School takes the lesson outdoors

It started out as a scribble on a piece of paper. A garden at Howard Park Public School in Toronto in the shape of a footprint to symbolize the ecological impact of our daily actions. Enter some dedicated parents, teachers and students and vital grants from organizations like the Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds program and voila! What was etched out on a napkin becomes a permanent learning garden and outdoor classroom. Evergreen’s National Program Director, Cam Collyer along with Sandy Di Felice, Director at Toyota Canada and Paul Shaw, Dealer Principal at the local Ken Shaw Toyota dealership, recently celebrated Howard Park school’s achievement by paying a visit and helping plant some vegetables and native plants in the new school ground
